Immersed in the evocative setting of Palazzo Pitti, the Palatine Gallery is a place where history, culture and beauty intertwine in a unique experience. Description of the visit:

We will retrace the history of this imposing building, starting from Filippo Brunelleschi's project for Luca Pitti, we will remember the architects who succeeded one another here and we will talk about the families who, after the Medicis, have resided in this sumptuous space. The palace is divided into sections, of which we will explore the summer apartments and the main floor, which contains masterpieces of art known throughout the world.

The Treasury of the Grand Dukes:

The summer apartments are embellished with wonderful seventeenth-century frescoes which witness the glorification of the Medici family and immediately transport us into a fairy-tale dimension. Every detail testifies to the opulence of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. Each room is a masterpiece that reveals the grandeur of an extraordinary historical period. On the ground floor we will also encounter a small part of the valuable goods that the Medici collected: objects made of ivory, amber, gold, enamel, agate and lapis lazuli as well as relics of Saints. This incredible variety of precious works of art, jewels and rare objects constitutes the Treasury of the Grand Dukes and reminds us the power and wealth of the Medici family. It is a true treasure chest of wonders that will enrich your experience, offering you a further perspective on the life and traditions of the Florentine nobility.

The Ammannati courtyard:

Continuing the visit through the bright courtyard, designed by Bartolomeo Ammannati, we will talk about the parties that were celebrated here on the occasion of luxurious weddings. We will discover the astrological symbols and the meaning of the statues that dot this imposing portico where the sense of proportion is lost.

The Palatine gallery:

Once up to the main floor we will have the opportunity to look at iconic works by artists of the caliber of Raphael, Titian, Andrea del Sarto, Rubens and Filippo Lippi. Each painting is a journey into art, an invitation to discover the stories and emotions that these works evoke. Each room is an opportunity will leave you breathless. Looking at the ceiling of each room we will discover pagan divinities hovering in the clouds surrounded by golden stuccoes, walls covered in silks and damasks, the enchanting view from the windows overlooking the Boboli Gardens or the Pitti square. Not to mention, the furnishing objects, made of precious materials such as mother-of-pearl and coral according to the ancient Florentine mosaic technique.

The royal apartments:

After many years of closure, the royal apartments are once again open to visitors and appear today as they were set up for the Savoy family when Florence became the capital of the kingdom of Italy. Three different dynasties followed one another in these sumptuous environments, first the Medici, then the Lorena before the arrival of the House of Savoy. Today the fourteen rooms show the taste of the late nineteenth century while maintaining some items from the Medici collections in the furnishings. The rooms offer an interesting mix of styles: you will discover the secrets and curiosities linked to the daily life of the rulers, while geting lost among the artistic and architectural wonders of these historic spaces.
