Who I am
HI! My name is Francesca Marucci and I am a local tour guide.
My life between three unique cities: Florence, Venice and Naples
I was born in 1980 in Florence and from here, while keeping a constant connection with my hometown, I moved to study Archeology in Venice. Such a choice has unknowingly led me to have a very eventful and sometimes adventurous life. I had the opportunity to live and study in Venice sixteen years and to carry out research campaigns in Sicily, Tuscany, Lazio and Campania (Pompeii). In my spare time I have always been very interested on the history of food, which today allows me to switch between visits to museums of various kinds and cooking lessons. It is precisely because of this passion that I also started working in Venice as a tour leader and as a creator of food and wine tours. To extent my expertise I have followed cooking and pastry-making courses over the years and I have studied the production of oil and wine in Tuscany.
I felt the need to come back home home
I immersed myself in underwater archaeological sites, took tourists around the canals in kayaks, worked as a guide at the Colosseum and specialized in the study of ceramic finds and the study of the Etruscan civilisation. I spent a lot of time in archaeological deposits sharpening my gaze in contact with finds still covered in excavation dust, which is why I still feel at home today when I visit excavations and museums. I certainly also experienced the more silent and sedentary life of the bookworm, both in Venice and Naples, where I had the privilege of living and carrying out research. After many years away from home I decided to return to my roots and moved back to Florence. Here I took the Tourist Guide exam in December 2017. Today I see in those years of scientific research a precious treasure that comes into play every day with the tourists I meet.
What I like the most about my job:
I like the possibility of being in contact with people and accompanying them every day to discover different places. I am always immersed in beauty, in contact with immortal works of great significance and it is difficult for me to choose a favorite tour. I always strive to create a tailor-made experience based on the requests of my customers and if you want to contact me I will be happy to accompany you for a walk in the medieval quartiers or in search of a more modern and contemporary Florence, for a gastronomic tour or for a visit to our beautiful museums. If you are interested on a tour contact me!
